Your new outdoor space looks incredible — and now you want to keep it that way!
At Premier Pavers, we love hearing from happy customers like Richard who recently got in touch to share how much he’s loving his new outdoor area using our Porcelain Range from premierpavers.nz.
One of the best features of our porcelain pavers is how low maintenance they are — but like all outdoor surfaces, they benefit from a little TLC from time to time. Here’s our simple guide on how to clean porcelain pavers and keep them looking pristine year after year.
🧹 Step 1: Start with a Simple Sweep
Before applying any cleaning solution, remove loose dirt, dust, leaves, or debris. A regular broom or outdoor blower will do the trick. This simple step helps prevent scratching and allows cleaning products to work more effectively.
💧 Step 2: Warm Soapy Water Works Wonders
Once the surface is clear, mix warm water with a mild dishwashing detergent (like Palmolive or Sunlight) and gently mop or scrub your porcelain pavers. This is often all you need to restore that fresh, clean look.
👉 Top Tip: Use a soft-bristle broom, mop, or sponge — never use anything too abrasive!
🧽 Step 3: Tackle Stubborn Stains with Care
If you notice more stubborn spots (like leaf stains, red wine, or flower buds), here’s what we recommend:
✅ Try a mild abrasive like baking soda.
Just sprinkle a little on the stain, scrub gently with warm water, and rinse thoroughly.
✅ For tougher stains, use a specialty cleaner like:
Wet and Forget “Double Bubble” House Wash – safe for porcelain and perfect for deeper cleaning.
⚠️ What to Avoid
Not all cleaning products are created equal. Avoid:
- Harsh chemical cleaners that may damage or discolour the pavers
- Abrasive scrubbers (e.g., steel wool or harsh pads)
- Products like Jif, which are too aggressive for porcelain surfaces
💡 Got a Real Nasty Stain?
If you’ve got a real doozy — like red wine, leaf staining, or organic debris that’s been left a bit too long — neat household bleach can work wonders. Just apply it carefully to the stained area, let it sit briefly, and rinse off with clean water.
Always test a small area first, and wear gloves!
🌱 Bonus: Keep It Fresh All Year with Annual Treatments
Once or twice a year, we recommend a quick, hassle-free treatment to prevent moss, mould, or algae:
🌿 Try:
Wet and Forget “Rapid Application” — simply spray and walk away. It’s perfect for ongoing protection and keeps your pavers looking new with zero scrubbing.
