How To Choose Right Synthetic Turf

Many people are unsure of how to choose the height and density of synthetic turf when making a selection. They often believe that all synthetic turfs have the same height and density, but this is incorrect. The height and density of synthetic turf vary depending on their intended use, such as landscaping or sports fields.

In terms of height, landscaping turfs used in hotels, shopping malls, and homes are typically around 15mm, 20mm, or 30mm in height, with a combination of straight and curved fibers. On the other hand, sports turfs, especially those used for soccer fields, have a height of around 50mm with single fibers that require infill to stand upright.

Regarding density, landscaping turfs usually have a higher density of around 16800 stitches per square meter, while sports turfs have a relatively lower density of around 10500 stitches per square meter.

For soccer fields, the recommended choice is a turf with a height of 50mm and a density of 10500 stitches per square meter. After installation, these fields require infill materials such as quartz sand and rubber particles to achieve the appropriate height and fiber density, meeting the standards for soccer field testing. On the other hand, landscaping areas can opt for a turf with a height of 30mm and a density of 16800 stitches per square meter. With this high density and low height, coupled with straight and curved weaving techniques, there is no need for infill, resulting in an aesthetically pleasing and easy-to-maintain surface that ensures comfort underfoot.
