Today’s quote: “Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator, but among those whom I love, I can: all of them make me laugh.” – W. H. Auden
Laughter is the best medicine for easy sales!
I laughed out loud when I saw the marketing strategy that a young lady used in New South Wales, Australia to find a new husband.
Leesh Cunningham, 26, says in a series of now-viral videos she has opted for the more “traditional” approach to dating after giving up on Tinder and online dating sites.
“So I’ve come to Bunnings to find me a husband,” she says in a couple of short and very funny videos that she has uploaded to TikTok.
In the videos Leesh can be seen scanning various aisles in the store including the painting and gardening sections but doesn’t manage to find her Prince Charming anywhere.
Carrying a sign reading “Wanted: one husband”, she soon seeks help from an employee, telling them: “I’m just looking for a husband and I was told you guys have them here”.
The customer service representative tells Leesh their eligible men “were flying off the shelves”. “If we have any, they’ll be in the back corner on the left.”
But the trip was unsuccessful, with Leesh disappointingly saying the store was “drier than the Sahara Desert.”
You can see the full story and watch the two videos Leesh shot at this link: https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/lifestyle/2020/12/australian-woman-looking-for-love-gives-up-on-dating-apps-goes-to-bunnings-instead.html
Her videos about her failed ‘husband finding mission’ have now been watched over 100,000 times.
And the young lady has enjoyed an outpouring of messages from hopeful suitors and fellow singles offering advice. (And volunteering to help her with her husband finding project.)
“Your Bunnings videos are absolutely hilarious,” one person said. “If you want to make one with a happy ending- your Christmas wish – I would be honoured to play the part.”
This is a terrific example of laughter being the perfect medicine for easy sales.
The young lady who shot these two fun videos has now been noticed in a positive way by a huge number of people. (Including many viewers who could potentially be the type of man she is looking for.)
And she did this by using laughter and fun in a positive way.
Think about your own business.
How could use laughter and fun in a tasteful way to get a lot of potential customers noticing your business?
